Director Process – Santa Ana

JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:

• Direct the scale-up and manufacturing of new products and/or changes to existing products
  
• Establish methods and procedures to problem solve production issues with formulas, raw materials, and manufacturing processes
  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Manage and supervise the activities of process department personnel.
  2. Develop written operating procedures and policies for the pilot plant and process team.
  3. Implement safety policies and procedures with pilot plant and employees and comply with all applicable regulatory and insurance agency directions related to process department operations.
  4. Hire, train and develop the knowledge and abilities of the staff to better perform their job duties.
  5. Scale-up and manufacture new products with the aid of the staff as directed by management and sales.
  6. Modify and change existing manufacturing processes with staff aid to improve quality, lower cost and comply with regulatory agency requirements.
  7. Establish methods and procedures to problem solve production issues with formulas, raw materials, and manufacturing processes
  8. Coordinate the daily department operations with other departments (Manufacturing/R&D) to maintain effective working relationships.
  9. Generate weekly reports of departmental activities to management.
  10. Ensure all pilot and manufacturing scale-ups are tracked and documented.
  JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
  College degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  Minimum of ten years experience in working with and supervising manufacturing/process engineers
  KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  Knowledge of scale-up procedures, architectural paint formulations, and product test methods
  Ability to perform mathematical calculations including calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages, arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
  Skilled in working with figures
  Able to compose business correspondence and follow technical manuals
  Ability to communicate effectively with internal team members
  Possess logical or scientific thinking to solve problems with several abstract and concrete variables
