Saint Joseph Ballet is a non-profit arts-for-youth organization serving inner-city youth ages 9-19, in Santa Ana, California. Founded in 1983, Saint Joseph Ballet's mission is to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to strengthen self-esteem, self-discipline, and a sense of accomplishment through dance, academic and family programs. Saint Joseph Ballet has served over 40,000 at-risk youth, has a dedicated staff of sixteen plus faculty, is fiscally sound, and is funded through private donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. Saint Joseph Ballet operates in a 21,000 square foot facility which includes three dance studios, studio theatre, and public reception spaces in Santa Ana's Museum District. Position
The Academic Education Coordinator coordinates and implements the SJB academic after school tutoring program and serves as academic advisor to high school students for college enrollment. Academic Education Coordinator will develop a curriculum which enhances the student's school curriculum and enables the student to thrive academically.
* Actively work with a team to create an after school tutoring program and curriculum in alignment with the holistic philosophy of the organization
* Train and supervise staff and tutors
* Identify financial aid and scholarship opportunities for SJB students
* Manage a tracking system for all students academic progress
After-school dance program environment. Facility has three dance studios, tutoring center, and community center. Position requires evening and weekend work and may require week-long chaperoning at summer camp(s).
Requirements
Two+ years experience working with youth and adolescents in an educational or quasi-educational setting. Must be bilingual Spanish/English with knowledge of: curriculum development, college counseling, individual learning styles and assessments and cutting edge education methods and practices. Ability to manage and motivate a staff and volunteers. Excellent organizational and communications skills. PC literacy and a four year degree highly desired. Excellent communications (English and Spanish) and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
